Chilean visual artist Solange Heilenkotter brings a background in graphic design and art direction to her sculptural practice, shaping a unique artistic language that blends precision with fluidity. A graduate of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, she transitioned from a career in design to fully immerse herself in the exploration of materials and space. Since 2010, her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Chile, Peru, Argentina, and the United States, with pieces held in private collections in Chile, Peru, and the U.S. Today, she is represented by galleries in Santiago and Miami, where her work continues to engage audiences with its minimalist yet expressive forms.

At the heart of Heilenkotter’s work is a deep fascination with three-dimensionality. She works intuitively, allowing each piece to emerge organically through direct interaction with her materials—sheets of polypropylene, acrylic, steel, and LED light—which she cuts, bends, and layers by hand. There is no preliminary sketching; instead, her process is one of experimentation, observation, and adaptation, where material and space shape each composition in real-time. Her work seeks the power of simplicity, where fragility can take on scale and contrast, and where light plays an essential role in revealing depth and movement.

Through deliberate craftsmanship and a rejection of digital tools, Heilenkotter’s art achieves a balance between precision and spontaneity. She creates sculptural pieces that feel both structured and organic, evoking sensations rather than dictating meanings. Like geometry found in nature, her work embraces imperfect symmetry and the energy of materials in motion. Whether through wall pieces, installations, or large-scale sculptures, her work invites the viewer into a space where light, shadow, and form interact in a quiet yet compelling dance.
