Silvio Porzionato

Artist

Italy

Born in Moncalieri, Turin, Italy, in 1971, Silvio Porzionato is a figurative painter who specializes in oil paintings on large canvases. His work captures photographs of friends and strangers he encounters on the street. His portraits, presented in close-up and showcasing everyday people, transcend the ordinary. These works transform the subjects into timeless icons of humanity, emphasizing the universal significance of their expressions.

After graduating from art school, Silvio worked as a head designer for a major Italian company for a decade. Eventually, he sought a quieter life in the countryside, immersed in nature and art. This shift allowed him to focus on his passion for painting. His talent was quickly recognized, earning him several national awards. Within just one year, he was honored with the Mondadori Art Prize, and in 2010, he won the critics’ prize in Saluzzo Art. That same year, he created a permanent piece for the Museum of Urban Art in Turin.

In 2011, Silvio was selected to participate in the 54th Venice Biennale. Two years later, in 2013, he unveiled a monumental installation titled “Temporal Code” at the MACS (Museum of Contemporary Art of Sicily). This project featured 112 paintings accompanied by mirrors, exploring the various stages of human life—from childhood to old age—while capturing the equal intensity and significance in each portrait.

Silvio’s works have been exhibited in both solo and group shows across the globe, including cities like Hong Kong, Miami, Chicago, London, Paris, Bogotá, New York, Seoul, and Istanbul. His paintings continue to celebrate the beauty and power of the human race, blending personal stories with universal themes.
